In this private ceremony, family members will witness four graduates take their oath to defend and serve our country as a commissioned officer in the armed services. These graduates will also swear to the oath before the University community during the graduation ceremony on Sunday.

PLP graduates and their families will be invited to take part in this celebration of the accomplishments of the class 2008. Remembering the past and looking to the future will be complemented by the recognition of those who made a difference along the way.

PLP graduates will receive a formal invitation with further information.

Graduates and their families are invited to attend this evening reception hosted by Paul and Rosemary Trible. The CNU Jazz Band will provide entertainment and hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served.

This event will serve to reaffirm the University's mission of "excellence in teaching, inspired by sound scholarship" by acknowledging the academic achievements of the class of 2008 and its associated faculty. Graduates who have earned Latin honors, faculty promoted in academic rank or awarded tenure and all faculty awarded emeritus status during the 07-08 academic year will be honored.

Honors recipients and their families are invited to attend. Latin honors recipients will receive invitations at Commencement rehearsal on Thursday, May 15.

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (new window) invites all graduating students of color and their families to a reception honoring their achievements. In honor of the class of 2008, CNU will hold a candlelight ceremony at sunset on the eve of Commencement services. The ceremony will commemorate the transition of the graduates to alumni of the University. Graduates and their families are invited to attend.

The Baccalaureate service serves as an occasion to give thanks and celebrate the completion of the academic journey. Candidates for graduation and their families are invited to attend.

11 a.m.
Field House - The Freeman Center

Degree candidates should assemble in The Freeman Center arena, in cap and gown. Candidates who have retained their Academic Convocation penny are reminded to bring it to The Freeman Center. As candidates process through Saunders Plaza , they will be encouraged to throw their penny in the fountain.

back to schedule listCommencement Exercises
12 noon (guests should be seated by 11:45 a.m. please)
POMOCO Stadium

The 82nd Commencement exercise will begin promptly at noon. The processional begins the formal ceremony which will include remarks by the President of the University, the Rector of the Board of Visitors, a keynote speaker and the conferring of degrees to undergraduate and graduate students. The ceremony lasts about two hours.

Immediately following Commencement
Courtyard between the Trible Library and the David Student Union

A reception for graduates and their guests will take place in the courtyard between David Student Union / Library immediately following the conclusion of the ceremony. Graduates will also pick up diplomas at this time.
